Well I did say, get used to it. Get used to saying President Obama. Check out that sweet talk by Obama in his victory speech.
Fortunately...
...having an African American president means a lot for this nation socially. It wasn't so long ago that African Americans couldn't even drink from the same water fountain. That societal construct of exclusion continues in many ways. Today, we've got our first African American president. It's one of those moments of history - that big leap - that tells me that we're progressing; we're moving forward as a society. Socioeconomically, there's still a lot left to do. Don't think this is the End to Black Politics.Unfortunately...
...there's still a lot to do. Bush and the Republicans have left us with the ugliest job to do domestically and internationally. On another note...And there's probably more issues that I am missing. But, I think we've got the idea - there's a lot of work to do. It isn't over yet.
- Economy
- War in Afghanistan
- War in Iraq
- Drug Policy
- International Relations
- Environment
- Energy
- Military
- Immigration
- Women's Rights
- Tax Policy
- Job Creation
- Budget Deficit
- Gay Rights
...I think Democrats should never stop campaigning to the people. I say this because the Democrats will still not be able to get anything done. Remember, the Republicans have filibustered everything the Democrats have tried to do - a record-setting 98 times last I heard. While the Democrats have a pseudo-control at 56 Senate seats so far (60 is needed for cloture), it may still be difficult to get things done. So, at every turn, Republicans ought to be outed when they interfere with the process using filibuster tactics. I am afraid that they will do their best to paint Obama as a lame duck President as people really never understood why this Democrat lead Congress wasn't working for the people.

I agree with you. I always hoped and knew he (obama) could do it. But in the back of my head I knew that he was coming into a white house that needed a lot of rehabbing so to speak. And most likely just like he said it will take more than a year more than 1 term to fix most of the messes that Republicans left behind. My only hope is that his term as president won't be solely based on his ability to fix all those messes within 4 years.
Great post. I've been saying for weeks that I hope the Dems don't get a supermajority because then everything that doesn't go right will be our fault. It's going to be hard no matter what. I'm glad he reminded us of that last night.
The prospect of hard work ahead has never been so appealing.
Just stopping by, Anthony. He will definitely have a lot on his plate. In absence of near future war here at home, I think this impending Great Depression combined with diminishing oil and our crappy infrastructure will be his biggest challenge.
@brotthers blog yeah i'm 100% sure obama can make it!
