As I mentioned in a comment on my previous post, White people, primarily in the south, are purchasing guns at an alarming rate. Some articles try to downplay the reality of racism as the reason for this arms buildup in the south by claiming these people fear that Democrats will ban guns. Supposedly, this impending ban on guns is the reason they're going to buy them now, before Obama gets sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.The News is Out There

These people are not buying the typical guns - handguns, shotguns, or hunting rifles. They are buying semi-automatic assault rifles, military styled weapons, high capacity magazines for their semi-automatic pistols, and lots of ammo. Common home owners don't need to protect themselves with that level of firepower. Terrorists would need that kind of firepower for defense until they carried out their plans. Drug dealers would need that kind of firepower for defense of their drugs and money. The only other time people buy weapons like that is because they are on OFFENSE. You don't grab the biggest and most damaging gun you can get your hands on unless you plan on doing the biggest and most damage. A man trying to protect his family is not in the mindset to do that much harm.
On another note, this is not an arms race like the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States decades ago. This is a one-sided militarization. African Americans are not out at the gun stores clearing out inventory. Hispanics are not doing it. Asians aren't doing it. No one else is buying up this much weapon inventory.
I can only hope that the FBI and CIA is keeping track of all of these purchases because this is the ONE time when I might feel that eavesdropping is necessary. As for African American people out there, watch your backs. Most of these racist white folk know that getting Barack Obama will be difficult due to security. But, Jamal and Roscoe are readily available targets. This goes for Wong family as well as the Vazquez family. These people are not just out to eliminate African Americans. They're out to "take back America for the White race." That means we're all in danger.

Well well well, It isn't unexpected. I was actually surprised they waited this long. I guess there was hope that McCain could still pull it out in the end. I worry for blacks down south who live next door to the racists who are about to be up in arms in the upcoming months. While I don't like gun violence, I do believe that in the south especially, old habits don't die hard. Protect yourselves, as we've learned the protectors aren't always on their job.
Anthony, you kicked azz on this post and previous one. They were just excellent. I particularly like your point the mainstream media intentionally avoids: that the buyers are overwhelmingly hostile, fearful and racist white men.
Fixed news outlets and McCain & Palin heated up the race baiting against Obama to a boil in September thru Election Day. Me and my readers have been discussing this off and on for the past two months, and now these mofos are sitting around obsessing and hoping to re-enact the Civil War. It's scary as hell, I like you, I hope Homeland Security and the Secret Service is on top of this. I have so much more to say but it would be too long.

Hey Yaz. Thanks for commenting. We all just have to try to be easy and not pull a Bush move. This is what racist Whites want. They want someone with a Bush mindset of preemptive strike. They want Black people to make the first move so they can say, "See, we told you they were coming for us!" I am not against the 2nd Amendment and I do believe we ought to protect ourselves. Let's just keep the mindset on defense and not offense.

Hey Maria. Stupid and weapon just don't mix regardless of who it is. That's why I personally don't care for the low mental standards of police departments. But, that's another issue for another blog for another day.. no lie. I just haven't organized it in my head yet.

This is classic panic buying. People fear a shortage of "high powered weapons" in the future. With a president elect that has supported banning these types of guns and ammunition in the past who can blame them? Sure, you have your lunatic fringe that may be buying because they are scared of a black president, but that is the vast minority. This is not about Obama's race, its about his stance on weapons control. Please wake up from your delusional world. The run on guns is 95% about gun control politics, 4.5+% fear of the unknown, and less than 0.5% racism.
Right? So, I love this gun. It's a military assault rifle. I love it so much that I am going to wait to buy it. There's no reason for me to wait to buy it. In fact, I had months, maybe even years to go get this gun, but I never got it. Then, all of a sudden, I hear that a Democratic president will be sworn in on Jan 20 and this makes me run to go get this military assault rifle and enough ammo to clear out the inventory.
This is what most intelligent folks call UNCHARACTERISTIC BEHAVIOR, not normal. You call it gun control politics but fail to admit that the Supreme Court has already upheld the 2nd amendment. There's nothing Obama could do to stop them.
The concept of a "run on guns" is completely MOOT, FALSE, CONJECTURE, LIES, PROPAGANDA. It may explain some guns - hunting rifles, pistols, shotguns - and I am willing to believe that. But, you will NOT come here and tell me that military assault rifles and high capacity magazine clips along with entire inventories of ammunition is being purchased because people are afraid they won't be able to buy them in the future. I was on some random blog made by a fan of the "Twilight" movie. The blogger lived in Idaho or Utah and mentioned how she and her husband had stocked up on machine guns and similar weapons/amo in order to protect their family. This completely shocked me, who needs a machine to protect themselves unless they are expecting a war zone or siege? I don't feel any safer knowing there are a bunch of people with military style weapons in their home given the high incidence or children, the mentally ill, or road/work/school rage types getting their hands on these weapons.

Yes. White people are afraid of black people. It's called REALISM, not racism. Blacks compose less than 15% of the population yet commit 50% of all violent crime and it is usually against whites. Just because the mainstream news media chooses to suppress black on white atrocities or spin it as an accidental abduction, rape, torture, and murder in the commission of a garden robbery or theft (if you don't know what I'm referring to, google Channon Christian) does not mean whites are buying it. Which is why they are all going bankrupt. Google South Africa Sucks. Google Zimbabwe. Hell, google Detroit or any other hell hole where there is black rule. Look, he's partially black and partially a Kansan. So be it. The only reason he'll take guns away are if they become a problem. I honestly believe that the reason people are arming themselves is so they are capable when another 9/11 type attack begins to move over to our country.
I do not understand why we feel, as American's we are never going to have to suffer and fight like everywhere else. If I remember correctly, we were the ones who benefited the most from creating a "global economy".
I am a white gun owner, but it has nothing to do with a worry about race wars. Cooler heads will prevail considering the amount of possible terrible things that could come from afar. Or having to fight with each other during the rebuilding phase in the U.S. I don't wish any of it to happen, but I think that it is foolish to believe that it will be anything but a class war. Race is not really the issue any longer, the DEMOCRACY FOR WHICH WE LIVE IN has selected a mixed gender politician who apparently feels he can make a "change" for the better. We'll see about that. We're still in the same "bloodline" kind of fairy tales as a government when it comes to leaders... lets see, Bush I was ambassador to China, head of the CIA, Vice-President for 8 years under Reagan and President for 4. Then the Clinton era of 8 years. Then 8 more years of a Bush. Now Obama with a Clinton right at his side.
I am really sick of the dynasty ran politics we have in our country. It's isn't very democratic... but whatever, I was born here. It's what I get. I have nice roads, sewers, trash pick-up, parks, and decent schools. I like being an American. I have the right to say what I don't too, that's also cool. There are plenty of things to defend if anything actually got out of control within our borders.
Whites are aren't buying guns for a war on blacks...roll eyes...EVERYONE is buying guns and ammo right now because of the impending assault weapons ban (House Bill 45), which is pretty much the same as the Clinton gun ban in the 90's. During this period it was difficult to get high capacity magazines and assault weapons. The difference this time is that the ban does not have a sunset clause, it is written as permanent. So this has spurred people (all races, not just whites..roll eyes again) into buying everything they would ever want because it will not be available in the future if the gun ban passes. This can be very profitable, as prices soared due to limited quantities of preban assault rifles and high capacity magazines.
Ammo, this is being bought up because there is another bill in the works called the Ammunition Accountability Act. This requires that the bullet casings be stamped with serial number as well as the projectile itself. This will cause ammunition prices to sky rocket due to the expense it will take to retool to produce the ammo and the slower production rate. This is also a way to "back door register" guns as you will be required to register the ammo when you buy it. This is unconstitutional and is worthless for fighting crime as most crimes are committed with stolen guns and ammo. It is just another way for the BATF to keep an eye on you and monitor what you buy and have on hand. You may not think much of that, but it starts there and ends where? Registering books you buy so they know what you are reading? Chips implanted in your children and you so you can be tracked? Its just basic loss of rights and freedoms that are getting people riled up, NOT race.
I think if people are preparing for a war it would be on the government rather than "black people" because most people are pretty upset with the way things are going in Washington DC. It doesn't really have anything to do with a black president, but more like a government that keeps doing what it wants and is not listening to the states like it is supposed to. 9 states have already filed for sovernity because of this. Don't believe it? Google away and learn.....
I have been in the Army since 1992, and I have served with all races and many different nationalities. It is funny when you strip people out of their home environments and put them together somewhere foreign they forget about all the piddly crap and function as a team for a common goal with no racism involved. Of course you always have the exceptions that are just naturally asshats that can't understand why people don't like them and they usually blame it on race. That works both ways. I have also come across the questionnaires handed out by the command that ask you if you would fire on US citizens if asked to by the command. (totally and completely unconstitutional) Now why would they ask that? So if I sound a little biased against big government, I have my reasons and if you can't see what is going on with this bailout stuff then God help us all.
